Berlin has got so many attractions to see and thus there is something for everyone. These attractions include excitement, thrills, exhibitions and history of Berlin, animals and exotic things. Once you are in Berlin as a tourist you will be issued with a “welcome card” which comes with a discount of up to 50% on attracting admission and museums and gives you free city transport either on bus or train. You can find one by visiting the tourist offices or the ticketing offices as well as some selected hotels and they are normally valid for three days.
One of the tourist attractions in Berlin is the Brandenburger Gate that was commissioned by Wilhelm Friedrich II in the 1700s and it was a symbol of peace. This has become one of the most photographed and recognizable landmark in Berlin. The Brandenburger was originally built has a custom post, whereby its gate remain locked and it was an integral part of the Berlin wall that was present during the communist rule. The gate was a symbol of German reunification when the wall was finally destroyed initially it used to be a boundary between the East and West Germany. This gate is the only one of the 18 that still remains. It was designed in 1791 by somebody known as Carl Gotthard and a structure of beautiful goddess was put at the top of the structure. And in 1806 when Napoleon occupied Berlin he stole the statute but it was later brought back in 1814.
Another Berlin tourist attraction is the Charlottenburg which was commissioned in some 300 years ago by Queen Sophie Charlton. Friedrich Schinkel added to it some interesting features in the 19th century. The palace also contains some beautiful paintings and stunning gardens which anyone visit Berlin should see. It is opened from morning until dusk so every time of the day you can visit the site to see for yourself.
Postdamer Platz is another attraction in Berlin which was one of the busiest squares in the whole of Europe in the 1900s. When the wall was built it gave the westerners some space to look at the Eastern part of the city. The area has undergone some renovation after it was neglected in the past. The area now has got several shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and several other things of interest and useful to mankind.
